Katee & Joshua's Ticket To The Top 10 (Video) UPDATED
Katee Shean and Joshua Allen - Hiphop - Napoleon & Tabitha
Uploaded by kelxk3l
Scott Patrick Wagner:
STANDOUT!! They get the extra exclamation point, because it was really impressive. Katee had the deck stacked against her from the auditions, when she seemed ungrateful and annoying at the final callback. But she came through, almost holding her own with the most brilliant dancer of the night, Joshua. Granted, he is a hip hop dancer and this was a hip hop number, but it wasn’t really. It was a contemporary number with a hip hop feel, and he was extraordinary. The guy pulled it out on every level, and I was truly impressed.
Debbie Chang at BuddyTV:
Katee Shean and Joshua Allen are the next couple. Joshua is a hip hop dancer, but has also trained in ballet (as well as playing football and running track). They have a hip hop routine choreographed by Napoleon and Tabitha, which tells the story of an enlisted man shipping off the next day. They dance to "No Air" by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown. Katee and Joshua are very intuitive dancers, and they really rock this routine pretty hard. I had to sit for a moment, not typing, because my eyes were glued to the screen. Nigel tells them that they were really, really great, in a hushed, awed voice. He says that it's his favorite routine of the night. Mary is pleasantly surprised at how soft Joshua could dance, and Dan is pleasantly surprised with how well Katee held her own.

New Commenting System UPDATED
Please help us test a new commenting system from Disqus.com. Features of the system include the ability for commenters to establish and maintain an identity on blogs enabled with Disqus. Readers can rate comments to help make sure only good comments stay in the conversation. Rated comments contribute to a commenter's clout, or reputation, on blogs across the web. There is a community page provided to follow comments, and it even allows users to comment by video.
There is a tour of the system aimed at publishers here, or you can see it in use at the Leoville blog.
We'd like to know how you like it, so please comment away. Thanks!
UPDATE: I see there's no link to comment. Hang on while I see what's going on with that.
UPDATE 2: It's fixed. Big thanks to Jason at Disqus.com for a quick response.

One Year Old
BSYTYCD's first post was one hear ago today, a video of Musa Cooper's season 2 audition. Since the first year has been so successful, we want to start year 2 the same way.
Uploaded by astronomiedomine
Musa fans will want to see him act and dance in this not-safe-for-work short film.
I bring this up because I'm sensing a great deal more anticipation around the web for season 4 than I did for season 3. No longer is So You Think You Can Dance just a fill-in for American Idol watchers.
I also want to thank our friend and frequent commenter, Sue Brody, who has agreed to become a contributor to BSYTYCD, and will be recapping season 4 for us. Thanks Sue!

7 Random Things - I've Been Tagged
Selly at Dance Outlook tagged me with a blogger meme. This isn't a personality blog (readers should be glad) and I try to keep it about the talent, but I want to be a member-in-good-standing of the blogger community. Here are the rules:
- Link to the blog who tagged you (above)
- Post the rules on your blog
- Share seven random and/or weird things about yourself.
- Tag seven people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
- Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
- This blog's format is a shameless ripoff of Blogging Project Runway. Laura K and the great crew there have been very supportive.
- The best TV shows ever are LOST, The original Japanese Iron Chef, the Emma Peel seasons of The Avengers, MST3K, and The Andy Griffith Show.
- I wasn't a dance fan before season 2 of SYTYCD. Tyce Diorio's Unwritten routine on the top 20 show hooked me.
- I'm a geek. I listen to tech and food podcasts.
- I was once a judge at the Atlanta International Wine Festival.
- My Yellow Lab Alex is a canine supermodel.
7. I love great photography and Sam Abell is my favorite photographer

Recent Additions
We continue to add good stuff to the side bar.
Moving Still is the site for Movmnt Magazine's excellent book of dance photography. Full disclosure: the people at Movmnt Magazine were kind enough to send me sample copies of the magazine and book. They're all full of excellent quality writing and dance photography.
DanceBreak - Showcasing the next generation of great Broadway Choreographers
Scene Interactive - Talent representation at a higher level. I love their production values, clean visual style, and respect for the artists. There's a lot of talent to check out, including probably a future SYTYCDer or two. They have a great blog, too.
We're Not Going Anywhere
The season ends tonight, but you can't get rid of us that easy. Blogging So You Think You Can Dance will be here covering your favorite dancers and other assorted SYTYCDers. We'll be working with our blogging buddy Ducky to cover the tour(take pics/videos and send 'em to us, please!). We'll be doing a Video Of The Day, sometimes show-related, sometimes just great dance.
Thanks for all your support this year!

Worthy Of Note
Shoes On Powerlines watched their first episode of So You Think You Can Dance last night, and has some...um...interesting suggestions:
Before the dance, they have to spin the wheel of misfortune! Most spaces will have nothing on it, but if they are unfortunate enough to land on a “bummer tile,” they could have some of the following misfortune applied to their dance: partner gets replaced by cadaver, must dance blindfolded, partners switch shoes, song changed to Kriss Kross’ “Jump (Gonna Make Ya), or you must dance while holding a small goldfish bowl (spilling disqualifies).

Our blogging buddy Beckylooo bestows us with her unique insights:
All right, first things first. I’ve had it with the Camera Department. There’s the door. Use it. And while I haven’t given you fair warning, Electric? Get out. Go. You disgust me. Don’t try to sneak out the back, Wardrobe! Get over here. I want to look you in the face when I tell you your services are no longer required. And since I’m on a roll, Shankman. Aren’t you needed over on Step Up: The Sequel?

Ticket Buying Meetup
Hey folks. We've got 2 weeks until tour tickets go on sale. I was thinking, if we're going to be waiting on line, why not do it with other Blogging So You Think You Can Dance readers? I can create forum space where arrangements can be made. We have enough readers in the larger cities that something like this would be possible, at some central Ticketmaster locations. Let me know what you think.
I'm also thinking of adding a chat box to the blog, at least on show days. Any feedback would be appreciated.

So You Think You Can Dance - Some Quick Thoughts
For the most part, it was a night for the ladies to shine.
Nigel's hair was fluffier than usual, and as Sashafire asks, is it possible for Nigel to look any more like a character from the Simpsons?
Dominic & Sabra, choreographed by Tony Meredith. Another great routine, Dominic was good, but Sabra really pulled ahead with her performance. We'll hate to see them split up next week, but we'll be interested to see how each does with different partners.
Hok & Jaimie, choreographed by Tyce Diorio. We disagree with the general consensus of the judges. We really...

felt Jaimie for the first time tonight. We're not sure about the whole "old man" thing, but Hok avoided what could easily have turned into a parody.
Pasha & Sara, choreographed by Mandy Moore. Sara finally broke through. She starred, Pasha was supporting cast. Good job by Mandy Moore.
Neil & Lauren, choreographed by Mia Michaels. For the first time, we look forward to re-watching their routine, but that may have more to do with Mia than Neil & Lauren. A little out of sync at times, but the movement is finally getting interesting to watch.
Danny & Anya, choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereaux. Jean-Marc's reputation is growing beyond just being the French-Canadian Joe Pesci. He made the foxtrot interesting. As good as Danny was, Anya was even better (full disclosure: we love Anya here). It reminded us of what someone once said about Ginger Rogers. She had to do everything Fred Astaire did, only backwards, in heels. We do hope Danny broke through to some of those who haven't "gotten" him so far. We want them both on tour to do their Viennese Waltz.
Kameron & Lacey, choreographed by Dan Karaty. Their weakest routine so far, and don't blame it on Dan Karaty. Kameron's performance was average at best, Lacey's forgettable, though to be fair, hiphop is not her specialty.
100,000 Hits
We received our 100,000th hit today. Not bad for a two month old blog started as a spur of the moment thing. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to visit Blogging So You Think You Can Dance, and to all of the sites and blogs that have linked to us.

Apologies
We posted a video this morning that we said was Pasha & Anya. We need to look more closely next time. It turns out it was a different Pasha & Anya. Who knew? Anyway, we do strive for accuracy, and we apologize for misleading our readers.
The video in question is here, if you wish to view it.

Apologies
We had some glitches with the commenting system and lost a couple of comments while correcting the problem. Our apologies.
The Kids Love him

Sacramento Bee columnist Bob Shallit has a bit about Dominic Sandoval, about halfway down the page.
Twilla says Sandoval, 22, is a "fantastic influence" on her mostly younger dancers, who often perform during Kings and Monarchs games.
"The kids love him," she says.

SYTYCD Production Co. Sold
Dick Clark Productions, producers of So You Think You Can Dance, was purchased today by Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder. Does this mean any changes for the show? BuddyTV has the story.
