Another Thayne Montage

We haven't seen many fanvids this season, but this is the second excellent one we've seen dedicated to Thayne Jasperson. We previously posted buffmetube's, now here's one by Youtuber kookykatlyn. This one includes that great Thayne/Grover moment (thanks Leee!).

SYTYCD Update

Gev Manoukian's friends are "in shock":

"It doesn't seem real that someone we know is so successful and has gone so far."

Thayne Jasperson talked to the Salt Lake Tribune after performing at TCA Monday.

Fox has added a dance wiki to the official site. That's pretty progressive. Maybe there's hope for a decent website after all.
A wiki is a collaboratively written website created by the fans for the fans. That means YOU add the images, videos, and info about the SYTYCD competitions, dancers, and talented judges and judge choreographers that define So You Think You Can Dance.

SYTYCD News Update

Mia Michaels Has been heavily criticized lately for comments many deem harsh. Brill Bundy at From Inside The Box gives her a chance to tell her side of the story:

"What America doesn't know is the relationship," she explains at the TCA Summer Press Tour, saying that what she brings to the judging table is a choreographer's perspective. "There's a beautiful, beautiful collaboration and very nurturing [atmosphere]. For me especially, I nurture them. I'm Mamma Mia and they look to me for that tough love actually.

"So, when I say it, American might go, 'Oh my God, that's so harsh.'

"[The dancers] are cool with it. They know. They know I only want them to be brilliant."

Thayne Jasperson is wasting no time self pity. He has a teaching gig this week.

ALERT! Comment thread contains a choreographer/dance spoiler for this week.

News Update

BuddyTV has interviews with Comfort and Thayne.

Katee & Joshua get a good review for their Bollywood piece from Bollyspice.com.

More on K&J from Pond Culture:

Joshua and Katee, the Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan of the proceedings, took on an Indian routine that put Mike Myers and artists of even greater pretension to shame.

Their beguilingly honest and joyous performance made you want to shoot over to your Netflix queue and slide Monsoon Wedding, one of the finest movies ever made, to the very top.

Friday's News Update

The LA Times tells us what we didn't see during the results show. Nigel made a "shocking" announcement backstage that puts Thayne and Comfort in the same club that Shauna, Jesus, Hok, and Anya were in last year!
Thanks to reader GerritV for the link.

This is Natalie, by the way. Helping Ted out. :)

Benji and Thayne: separated at birth?

Hal Boedecker of the Orlando Sentinel has some guest spoilers for next week's results show.

The Contra-Costa Times writer Dino-Ray Ramos (Is that not the coolest name ever?) recaps America's Best Dance Crew:

There are four key phrases (that I can remember) that you need to say if you’re a judge on America’s Best Dance Crew:

1.) You turnt it out.
2.) You smashed it.
3.) You killed it.
4.) I respect and/or appreciate that.

I don't see it, but MTV's Remote Control blog thinks Phresh Select's Lil O should be called Lil Shane.

BuddyTV's Gina Scarpa power-ranks the 9 guys.

Plenty of familiar names on the roster of The Pulse On Tour this summer.

Smug Doug analyzes "the issue of "personality vs. technique" and how it can be manipulated by the judges."

Thayne Jasperson's friend Erin speaks quite highly of him.

So You Think You Can Dance brings together both friends and family.

Before SYTYCD, who would have thought that choreographers would become objects of adulation. I think that's pretty cool.

Chelsea T. and Thayne (Video)

On first viewing, Chelsea Traile overshadowed with that hot performance. Watch it a few more times and you see that Thayne was really outstanding too. This could be a very interesting partnership.

Chilekat at TVFan:

And they throw down the first really fun performance of the night. And y'all, her body is INSANE. I thought Thayne was amazing, and actually a lot better than Chelsie. His hip action was awesome. And he partnered her and framed her really, really well. I think she got much stronger as the routine went along, and she did well with the posing and some of the held lines. And the bootee shaking was fun. But she was a little too stiff legged (they both were when it comes right down to it) and really too pulled up. It needed to be more grounded, earthier. Overall, they did an awesome job. And Chelsie #1? Is a total sex bomb. Just ask Dan after he's done slobbering all over her.
